The paintings in this exhibition show America as it was a century ago. We glimpse a country untamed and almost unsullied in these nostalgic views of the land and the sea from the Atlantic coast and the Hudson River to the western reserves of Yosemite.

Through these works, we sense a warning that unless our resources are conserved, the land is in graver peril in the next few decades than it has been in our entire history.
