Herbert Achternbusch
Eclectic Bavarian playwright, filmmaker and painter, Herbert Achternbusch
Despite
being one of the most prolific artists of the past 40 years, Bavarian
novelist, playwright, filmmaker, actor and painter Herbert Achternbusch
remains largely unknown. His obscurity is primarily due to his
unwillingness to join any organized groups literary, filmic, political
or otherwise. His art can be seen as a radical attempt to fight, with
aesthetic means, against any external influence. As a result, he
designs his own covers for his books, changes grammar rules, refuses
page numbers, writes, directs and stars in all his films.
This
book take the viewer through a diverse number of phases of his work,
all of it bold strokes surrealistic, there is a phase that recollects
Gauguin's time with the natives and an Indian Erotic piece, other times
that are more abstract than anything else.
