The print features a seated woman, right side with a small dog. We acquired this print from Gertrude Dennis, the founder’s daughter of the world famous Weyhe Gallery of New York during the 1970’s. The print is marked 1st. state in pencil on the margin on the back.

Condition: There is a small tear in the upper margin just outside the plate mark, tape residue in the margins, reverse of image. The print is rich and well printed. Includes archival study mat. This is NOT a modern reproduction.

 (
Etching is the process of using strong acid to cut into the unprotected parts of a metal surface to create a design in intaglio in the metal . As an intaglio method of printmaking it is, along with engraving, the most important technique for old master prints, and remains widely used today)
