Description

The great mining booms of Tonopah (1900), Goldfield (1902) and Rhyolite (1904) in the southern Nevada desert represent the last flowering of the Old West. Of all the towns spawned by the Rhyolite boom, Beatty is the only one that survived.

Situated in the middle of a vast inhospitable desert, Beatty - a true oasis - had two assets the other boomtowns lacked: plenty of water and relatively easy accessibility on the route from Las Vegas to Tonopah.

This book, illustrated with many fine historical photos, traces the area's history from prehistoric times to Beatty's present status as a tourism and mining center... This volume is based on published sources as well as recently collected oral histories of people who have an extensive and intimate knowledge of the history of Beatty, Nevada.

CONDITION: USED lightly, very good. Soft cover, light wear to cover, 103 pages, 1992, Out of Print.
