David Edwin Bernard, born 1913

Costa San Giorgio, Florence, etching, dated 11/19/1967. 15 1/8x 11 3/4 inches. Signed and titled in pencil, artist’s proof (edition size not specified). In excellent condition. Supplied in archival study mat.

David Bernard was born in Sandwich, Illinois, studied at the University of Iowa, and was Professor Emeritus of Art and Fine Printmaking at Wichita State University.

Bernard''s education included undergraduate study of art education, graphic design, and painting. After two years of work as a commercial artist and three years of military service during World War II, he undertook graduate work in printmaking, sculpture, and art history. Throughout his life he continued his education by traveling.

Though a Kansas resident from 1949 until 1995 (when he retired to Florida, where he and his wife still reside), he regularly explored lands near and far, including: Mexico, Central America, Greece, France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, England, and The Netherlands.
