Original etching by German artist, Charles Beyer (born 1792).  Not much is known about the artist s life. He studied art at the Dresen Academy, and moved to France around 1820, where it is believed he spent the rest of his life.

Beyer often worked with the artist Karl Bodmer, who is widely praised for his prints of American Indian life. It is currently believed that Beyer actually etched many of Bodmer s plates.

In the Forest of Fontainebleau - Fontainebleau was the hunting lodge and weekend retreat of French royalty. This forest was used for hunting and frolicking by the court. A days ride from Paris or 40 minutes by train.

CONDITION:  Image size 5.25 x 7  inches on full sheet  size 10.75 x 15 inches.
Signed on plate lower left. Condition good overall, a few minor spots of foxing.
