Description

The Creation of Nikolai Gogol

Nikolai Vasilevich Gogol (April 1, 1809 - March 4, 1852) was a Russian writer. Although many of his works were influenced by his Ukrainian heritage and upbringing, he wrote in Russian and his works belong to the tradition of Russian literature. Perhaps his best known work is Dead Souls, seen by many as the first modern Russian novel.

This book is the most comprehensive, balanced and scholarly critical study (of Gogol) that has yet appeared outside Russia - Times Literary Supplement.

CONDITION: Soft Cover, 300 pgs, Harvard University Press, 1979, light overall wear, mostly to cover. Book in vg condition
