Description

Religion is older than civilization and religious plurality is as old as religion itself. It is only in our times, however, that this historical fact has become an existential dilemma. What are we to do in the face of religious plurality?

One attitude has been to disregard all religions as false, and destined to disappear in the course of time. Another attitude has been to regard one religion as true and all others as false. However, a third attitude has been to regard all religions as true.

This position has often been adopted out of charity, or even convenience, but the essays in this book demonstrate that this attitude may be rooted in a more profound insight: that through all the religions of the world a single primordial tradition is at work, of which they are the various manifestations.

Fragments of Infinity describes this primordial tradition, and has been compiled to honor the renowned scholar of comparative religion, Professor Huston Smith.
