The Craft of Handweaving by Iona Plath

This comprehensive book written for the inexperienced as well as the advanced weaver contains 123 designs for handweaving.

Designs include all types of fabrics for the home from curtains to rugs. Decorative fabric patterns with countless applications will offer the creative weaver many possibilities. Other patterns include tweeds and worsted fashion fabric designs.

Full weaving instructions and an actual size photograph of the fabric are given with every pattern.

Since designing takes experience and time, the homeweaver who wants to start right in weaving will find here a great variety of patterns and types of textiles already worked out. Patterns are mostly for a 4 harness loom.

There are also 2, 6, and 8 harness weaves, and it is explained how many of the 4 harness weaves can be woven on a 2 harness loom.

In addition to the patterns, instructions are given for making the warp, warping the loom, threading, tie-up, treading and weaving. Explanatory drawings accompany each stepof the process. Treading is given for floor looms with a key for table looms.
