This is a one volume history of the Arab people from the beginning of the seventh century to the mid-twentieth century.

It traces how in less than fifty years the Bedouins of Arabia established one of the greatest empires in history, which steadily grew to extend from the Atlantic to China and produced a flowering of cultural magnificence and scientific invention during the period which Western historians have labeled the Dark Ages.

It goes on to cover the Muslim colonization of Spain, the great struggle between Christendom and Islam which produced the Crusades, and the gradual turning of the tide against Islam countries when Mongol hordes proved a more terrible adversary than the West.
