Lovingly illustrated garden journal written by Celia Thaxter and Illustrated by Childe Hassam in color plates.

Celix Thaxter was widely known in the late 19th century as a poet, but it is for one slender volume of garden prose that she is now treasured.

Born in 1835 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Thaxter summered with her family at the resort hotel they built in 1848 on nearby Appledore, the site of her beloved Island Garden

CONDITION: Hard Cover with decorative boards, gilt, with Slip Cover. All in near near fine condition - superb for gift giving, this edition 1988. 126 pages, over 20 illustrations in color.
