Natasha Wagner's Rape Series - Looking head on at the truth

Artist's Statment

The essential purpose and objective of these photographs is to explore the sexual subjugation of women and various issues arising from the male/female relationship.

I am discussing rape, power, birth, self-loathing, the effects of trauma, mental and physical abuse, depression, and countless other relating topics.

In order to effectively and concisely discuss this wide arena of information I am using my life experience.

In art and life, a truthful experience of what women must face on a daily basis is lacking. I want to show the reality that is still hidden away and defiled by the hundreds of years of inaccurate romantic male perspective on rape.

The photographs will confront the male and female viewer about their own hypocrisy, demons, and emotions and ideally force a truthful dialogue and awareness.
