The E-3
boasts a tough camera body featuring splash- and dust-proof construction
with all major parts, including the built-in flash and the LCD monitor
swivel, sealed to keep out sand, dust, rain and splashes. As the use of
a swiveling LCD monitor makes it unnecessary to provide a recess hole
for the LCD monitor on the back panel, the entire back panel is covered
with the magnesium alloy, providing the body with even greater rigidity.
The camera's interior is also supported by structural members made of
durable, high-precision engineering plastics and reinforced by a
metallic frame. Even parts such as the strap eyelet are composed of
high-strength sintered members, ensuring that you can shoot with
confidence even under the most extreme environmental conditions.
A mirror mechanism with high accuracy and reliability is
incorporated to reduce transmission loss and facilitate high shutter
speeds up to 1/8000 sec. and an X-sync speed of 1/250 sec. These high
shutter speeds enable open-aperture shooting even under bright sunlight
and make the most of the high imaging performance of the Olympus ZUIKO
DIGITAL Lenses. In addition, super FP flash shooting with full-speed
sync up to 1/8000 sec. is available when the FL-50R or FL-36R external
flash is attached. Designed for maximum durability and reliability, this
newly developed shutter unit has been tested and passed 150,000 shots.
Working together, the High-Speed Live MOS Sensor with increased
readout speed, TruePic III image processing engine with increased
processing speed, and high-precision mirror mechanism enables high-speed
sequential shooting at 5 frames per second.
10.1 megapixels, file formats RAW ORF, and JPEG. Image
stabilization system. 49 point multi pattern metering. Includes digital
ESP metering, center weighted averaging metering, spot metering.
Exposure modes include program AE, aperture priority, shutter priority,
