Peter Muller Monk Signed Art Deco Silver Work Photo 1937
Vintage photograph, from the studio of John Adams Davis, New York City. The print depicts a pair of Art Deco candlesticks, by silversmith Peter Muller Monk. The current subject of the candlesticks was exhibited in 1937 at the Detroit Museum. Reference to this work in the show may be found the Bulletin of the Detroit Institute of Arts (Vol. XVII No. 5, February 1938 page 19).

There are various annotations on the back of the print, and it is signed in ink by Peter Muller Monk upper right reverse. See additional photos.

Condition: Age related creasing, crease upper left in image, minor dents. Good overall. Image size 9 1/2 x 7 3/8 inches. Inquiries welcome. Authentic vintage image - not a reproduction.

Peter Muller Monk was born in Germany in 1904, and moved to New York in 1926. After spending a year as a designer for Tiffany & Co., he opened his own his own studio. Later in life, he was celebrated for his designs in new materials, including products for Waring Blender, Westinghouse, Texaco and U.S. Steel. He died in Pittsburgh PA. in 1967.
