KHAMPA TIBET MEN’S TURQUOISE EARRING
A beautiful vintage
turquoise earring from the Khapma tribe of Tibet. This type of earring
is worn as a single ornament in the left ear by warriors and other
dignitaries.

The earring features one large turquoise cabuchon one half
inch in length, two smaller turquoise stones, and one of unknown
variety. The earring is silver, probably coin silver. The earring is
one and a half inches at the widest point.
HOW DO YOU WEAR THIS? Place ear lobe in opening and gently thread metal post through hole, keep pulling through hole for about an inch and a half. There is a small indentation in the circle where the ring rests in the lobe. The three small stones will be on top and the rough ornate piece will be on the bottom. Gravity keeps it in your ear lobe.
Vintage photograph by Frederick Spencer Chapman, 1936.
