Using his previously developed design convictions, he was convinced he could build affordable homes that pleased the eye and the pocketbook.

The end result style was called Usonian Home. The first house of this this genre was built in Madison, Wisconsin in 1936 and was called The Jacobs House.

The book goes on to look at a wide variety of homes within this genre, many you may not have heard of before.
