Description

The letters of don Diego de Vargas to his family from New Spain and New Mexico, 1675-1706 including an introduction, translations and explanations.

This
volume deals with de Vargas correspondence which gives a good picture of a royal official in New Spain. He was the recolonizer of New Mexico after the Pueblo Revolt of 1680.

These personal letters not only illuminate their author but the history of New Mexico as don Diego experienced it.
